This website was a website that gave an overview of where Rowan University’s food came from. It discussed what kinds of foods that Rowan offers to the residents living on campus. Best of all, this website allows college students to rate the food. Rowan received a B-. This website also listed the overall favorite foods that are on campus. All of the top foods were foods that are obviously not organic and not very healthy.

We used this site to show that there is a local farm market close by. It goes into the history of this family owned farm market. It tells you just some of the products they sell. It gives you times of operation and the location address. The farm offers a lot of different services, and they seem like a well-organized business.

This website provided us with the numbers of residents that are living on campus. For some reason, we could not find this number on Rowan’s website. Therefore, we searched elsewhere and came across this website. This website gives a lot of information about Rowan University including: majors, housing, etc. However, we only used this website for the campus population.

This website provides a lot of information about the food services on campus. It discusses where the residents can get food from and what types of foods those places have to eat. It also goes into detail about the nutritional facts of the foods on campus. There was a Frequently Asked Questions spot, and this gave us a lot of insight into what types of questions/concerns people had. There were a lot of questions about Boro Bucks and meal plans. Overall, this website showed us what types of food were accessible to the residents that were living on campus.

Rowan’s dining services and meal plans were discussed in this website. The meal plans were listed along with their costs. It discusses that all freshman are required to buy a meal plan. This website also answers many questions that residents/parents might have. It gives an overview about how the meal plans work and what each meal plan consists of. Boro Bucks are also discussed on this website, and a list of the places, off-campus, that allows the usage of Boro Bucks (most of the places are unhealthy).

We met with Mr. Smith to discuss various aspects of the company Sodexo. He told us a lot about how the food industry works and how Sodexo's extremely tight budget limits their ability to serve the organic foods that they wish. He explained the frustration concerning the financial burden of purchasing organic products. He also stressed that serving all organic food would be impossible unless budgets significantly increased. This interview helped to reassure the fact that even if the intentions are there, large, cheaper, conventional distributers are the route that this company must take.

Sodexo’s website offers a lot of information about the company itself. Sodexo supplies a lot of different companies/businesses with food. Through this website, we found out what Sodexo is all about and what their “motto” is. We learned that Sodexo has in in-house dietician that helps to plan the meals. There was also a video to go along with that information. This website didn’t say much about the actual food that Sodexo supplies, but it did tell us about the different meals that they try to put together/offer.

This web site discusses the United States regulations for agriculture and organic farming. This site went in to the rules, regulations, policies, and into the specific programs of agricultural farming. This website also broke down different types of organic farming. It touched on marketing. It informed us about how they marketed organic foods and how they priced organic foods.

This site gave us a quick list of all the local organic food places close to Rowan. This allowed us to map out the locations in relation to each other and to Rowan University. This not only gave us a list of places, but it also linked the websites to these places if they had a website.
